Italy, in-progress. This painting hangs unfinished, but I'll enjoy it on the wall until I'm ready to complete it.
Rather than hiding this in my studio unfinished, I hung it on the wall until it is time to start on it again. I started this piece after returning from northern Italy and Rome. Each section is inspired by photos I took in there: art, mosaics, wood beams, ceiling paintings, etc.
I originally wanted to make two painted wood panels as cabinet doors, and there were larger sections on the bottom of each panel. I ended up taking off the bottom portions, attaching the panels to a larger one, and framing it.
