From the Earth

As I began embroidering this piece, I had layered the darker linen on top of the other and a U-shape began to evolve. I intuitively drew the lines up from the bottom, crossing and then up the other side. I was creating roots and stems. I sewed ceramic leaves, flowers, wabi sabi circles, and "quilting triangles" to it, keeping the feeling of movement. There is a yin and yang height on one side and dip on the other, with detail and density of threads and beads at the base of the plants where they meet the earth and roots.
