Ascension, a ceramics on Canvas diptych with black leaves on linen

Ascension

This diptych features very large ceramic leaves sewn onto a pair of canvases layered in linens and embroidery. The movement upward inspired the title of the work. For added texture, I ripped the layers of some of the fabric apart to reveal the connective strings. I used both black and white sashiko thread. Each panel is 30"x48".
